Captain William Scott out of Lynchburg, Texas, lead a faction of Texians that wanted complete and immediate independence from Mexico. They were convinced by Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin to join the regular Texas forces and not prematurely start a war with Mexico they couldn't win. They subsequently join Colonel James Fannin's men and ultimately suffered the same fate as him.
